DROP-IN NEIGHBORLY POSTER WORKSHOP

Show/Hide Details
Dec 8,2018 -     Time: 2:00 pm - 4:00 pm

Drop-In Neighborly Poster Workshop Saturday, December 8 | 2-4pm
WNYBAC has been working on 'Neighborly,' a window installation of hand-printed posters alongside artist Kate MacNeil. These letterpress and screen print posters reflect the many diverse languages in the city of Buffalo, representing the immigrant and refugee communities in our City of Good Neighbors. We collaborated with local organizations such as Journeys End Refugee Services, Jericho Road Community Health Center, the WASH Project, and WNYBAC Members & Volunteers to create the translations. Translated statements include warm-hearted wishes: 'neighborly,' 'with open arms,' 'come together' and other messages unique to each language. Represented so far: Arabic, Somali, Dinka, French, Spanish, Lingala, Swahili, Haitian Creole, Turkish, Spanish, Czech, Hindi, Farsi, Nepali, Burmese, Amharic, Karenni, Tigrinya, Russian, and English. Have a language to add? Let us know! We'd love to include your heritage.  Participants are welcome to drop in any time during 2-4pm to pull a few prints and take their hand-printed posters home! All ages welcome. Cost: FREE | donations welcome No pre-registration required.
Instructor: Kate MacNeil
