October 24th-December 5th, 2014
Opening October 24th, 2014 7-9pm
The Western New York Book Arts Center is proud to present Richard Kegler: The WNYBAC Years, an exhibition by Richard Kegler, on view from October 24th through December 5th, 2014. An opening reception to celebrate the exhibition will be held on Friday, October 24th from 7-9pm. This event is free to attend and open to the public.
The upcoming exhibition will showcase a selection of printed work by Richard Kegler, Founder and Artistic Director Emeritus of WNYBAC. The exhibition will feature prints, posters, and collaborative works Kegler designed and hand letterpressed since the inception of the WNY Book Arts Collaborative, from the period of 2005 to 2014. Art prints, gig posters, highly acclaimed Buffalo Architecture prints, and miscellaneous printed ephemera will be on view. All sales of exhibited work will benefit WNYBAC programming and operations.
Kegler founded the WNY Book Arts Center in 2008, combining an interest in traditional crafts and an entrepreneurial background to make a self-sustaining community organization. He is also the founder and lead designer of P22 Type Foundry in Buffalo, a company dedicated to producing quality fonts and related products for artistic and historical applications. Currently, Kegler works as the Director of the Book Arts Center at Wells College, an institution with a long tradition of teaching book arts and letterpress printing, located in Aurora, NY.
Kegler’s show is the fifth in the 12 x 14 series at WNYBAC, a NYSCA-funded year-long residency program which features 5 artists over the course of twelve months. Kegler will also host a free collaborative workshop to give insight into his process on Saturday, October 25th, 2014 from 12-4pm. Pre-registration is required online at wnybookarts.org/workshops. WNYBAC Gallery hours are 12-6pm, Wednesday-Saturday. Admission to the gallery and the opening reception are free.
