SUMMARY:Visual Mindfulness: Intuitive Meditation for the Senses
DESCRIPTION:\n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n This month’s meditation theme: “Developing Our Intuition”\nIn our Book Arts Gallery Visual Mindfulness series\, participants explore the artwork on view by gathering in a few mediations techniques led by artist & educator Kate Stapleton Parzych. Each technique invites us to use our senses whether it be listening\, looking\, movement\, or stillness. There are many ways to enter into meditation other than traditional Buddhist-based practices! This is a welcoming environment\, no previous experience with meditation is necessary. \nOffered in response to Caitlin Cass’ ‘Great Moments in Western Civilization Postal Constituent: A Ten Year Study‘ on view in the Book Arts Gallery October 4 – November 9\, 2019. \n  \nPlease note: This class welcomes anyone 16 years and above. There will be sitting\, some standing\, and if anyone is comfortable with lying down\, please bringing a yoga mat and cushion/blanket/bolster (whatever is preferred). Participants will have the choice to sit in a chair or be on the floor for the greater part of the session. Dress comfortably\, and bring a shawl or yoga blanket if you tend to cool down when sitting or lying down. \n \n \n \n Register Here\n \n Fill out my LGL form!\n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n About the Instructor\n Kate Stapleton Parzych has been studying intuitive meditation for the past five years with Dr. Lorin Roche\, who translated the Vijnana Bhairava Tantra as the Radiance Sutras. She has found that taking a few minutes (there’s 1440 in 24 hours to choose from!) to observe the world around her and the world within her creates a peace that she can access throughout the day. \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n

To bind this book we will be using needle & thread\, with options to modify for younger students. Suitable for all ages. \n \n \n \n \n October 31 | The Art of Quilling\n \n In this workshop\, we’ll focus on quilling\, an old art of paper rolling originally used to decorate book covers. Participants will roll\, loop\, curl & twist small strips of paper\, gluing together to create colorful 3-D designs. Create your own design out of paper\, or choose a halloween holiday theme! Bring in one of your hand made books to quill a cover\, or create a completely new piece of art! Suitable for all ages. \n \n \n \n \n November 7 | Screen Printing\n \n Create a hand-printed poster or t-shirt! Participants will learn about the art of screen printing from design creation to print pullin’\, and use specialty printing tools to pull their own print.
