In this hour virtual presentation, Philip Longson, Assistant Professor at Daemen College, will speak to his expertise as a working artist, educator, and professional illustrator. Longson will offer tips including illustrating for publishers and working with and acquiring clients. Though he will speak to his own expertise within the field of illustration, his presentation will touch on universal principles useful for all arts-based careers.
Learn, too, how Book Arts collaborates to create custom printing jobs & provides opportunities for working artists in our Shop. Time for questions will be allotted after the presentation.

Philip Longson
Internationally published Illustrator
Philip Longson is an internationally published illustrator and education professional from the United Kingdom. Specializing in carefully crafted, narrative driven pieces that utilize a variety of media, his work spans from meticulous graphite drawings to stylized digital creations. His picture books have focussed on atmospheric retellings of traditional Scottish folk tales for older and international audiences.
He received his Masters in Fine Art from Edinburgh College of Art. Now based in Buffalo, NY, Philip is Assistant Professor of Visual and Performing Arts and Program Director of the Illustration program at Daemen College.
