Hands-on classes in the Book Arts studio!
In the workshop, participants will make a collagraph plate, or inked substrate, to create a small edition of prints inspired by the Eclipse.
During the peak of a solar eclipse, a natural phenomenon occurs from earths atmospheric waves just before and just after totality. Crescent shadows are cast and patterns of gray scale appear on surfaces. Using the eclipse shadow from trees as subject matter, participants will make collagraph prints with our Ettan Press using ink and paper to record and replicate the vibrant images onto paper and “off set” shadows to positive, in between and negative ghost pattern images.
Collagraph is a super fun medium to work with in print, with results sometimes pleasantly unpredictable. The visual possibilities are endless and it does not take a great deal of experience in printmaking to get some awesome results.
Things to note:
• Makers of all skill levels are welcome. This class is suitable for ages teen+.
• All necessary tools to participate are provided.
