In this class, we’ll cover a basic overview of the craft of letterpress, from simple typesetting of metal & wood type and imagery from our extensive collection, to inking & printing on an antique press from the 1930s. Participants will work together to print a pre-determined design, and each will go home with a poster printed by hand during the class.
This workshop is open to all skill levels and is family/child friendly. Children must be accompanied by an adult.
This workshop is intended as an overview of the Letterpress process. While participants will directly engage with the type and presses, we will not be creating individual designs. This class does not qualify participants to work in Open Studios, see our Letterpress Basics Workshop for this. Thank you!
Things to note:
• Makers of all skill levels are welcome. This class is family friendly and suitable for ages 8+.
• All necessary tools and materials to participate are provided.

Nevertheless, Jamey remains passionate about art, working in various mediums, but particularly letterpress. They completed a studio residency at Book Arts in early 2022, producing a 28 card hand-printed deck called the Tarot of Sorts. They have been doing letterpress for about two years and reading tarot for about six.
