Make Your Own Paper Peep Box

Hands-on classes in the Book Arts Studio!

During this event teaching artist Christina Corfield will give a brief presentation about peep boxes followed by leading participants through a series of simple prompts that will result in the construction of a peep box or miniature theater. This workshop will focus mainly on the construction of the box itself but everyone is invited to bring in images (from newspapers, magazines, print outs from the web) to add to the box.

• Makers of all skill levels are welcome. This class is suitable for ages sixteen+.
• All necessary tools and materials needed to participate are provided.

About the Teaching Artist

Christina Corfield is a research-based multimedia artist who enjoys getting her hands dirty in the studio as well as in archives and libraries. She is currently a Visiting Assistant Professor of Media Study at SUNY Buffalo and her work explores the unusual and forgotten media of the past as a method to reassess our relationships to the media of our digital present. Christina holds an MFA from the San Francisco Art Institute and a PhD from UC Santa Cruz in Film and Digital Media. She has published essays in international journals and has exhibited her work across the US and Europe, most recently at the Walter McBean Gallery in San Francisco.
