Learn the basics of screen printing from image creation to pulling prints on paper or apparel in this two-part workshop! Participants can expect to learn a brief history of screen printing, how to create images suitable for the medium, how to burn screens, mix ink, prepare paper, and of course, print! The instructor will guide participants in using specialty artist tools in to our newly-renovated screen print studio. Completed prints can be made on paper or apparel (t-shirts, tote bags, etc).
This is a two-part class. The first class focuses on the process of screen printing and exposing what’s possible with the medium, with your design to be printed in the second. You are not required to bring any materials to the first class.
Please remember, completed screen print projects can be one (1) design as a:
– a print on paper (card, poster, etc.) up to approx. 8″x10″
– a printed fabric piece 100% cotton or cotton blend (tote-bag, tea towel, shirt/apparel)
Participants can expect to create up to 1 dozen prints of 1 design depending on design and printing substrate.
This is a two-part workshop, participants must attend both Tuesdays 3/10 and 3/17/2020 from 6-9pm.
Workshop is limited to 4 participants to ensure quality of instruction. Pair this Basics workshops with our Advanced Screen Print Workshop to further develop your skills, and attend Open Studios as a working Member in our community-based printshop.
