Traditional Pamphlet Bookbindings

Hands-on classes in the Book Arts studio!

AD 365 Romans made books of parchment folded and sewn together and looked much like modern books… In this class you’ll learn a variety of traditional 3-hole single signature pamphlet binding, and some cool artsy variations, including the C-fold pamphlet, Z-fold pamphlet or do-si-do and the Gate fold pamphlet or French doors. Participants will leave class with a collection of handmade books.

Things to note:
• Makers of all skill levels are welcome. This class is suitable for ages teen+.
• All necessary tools to participate are provided.

LAURA CHENAULT

Laura Chenault is an interdisciplinary artist creating art from a feminist and a post-modernist perspective. She has a BFA in photography from the University of Illinois. The disciplines she works in are photography, collage, book arts, installation art, performance, printmaking, and film making. In addition to making art, she is passionate about building communities, sharing skills, mentoring, and teaching.

She owns Laurel Tree Bindery specializing in one of a kind books and short print runs of poetry chapbooks, art books, short stories, children’s books, genealogies & memoirs, custom wedding & baby books, and photo books.
