New Light, Olivia Long

Studio Gallery Exhibition on view: Friday, July 26th – August 23RD, 2024

Opening Reception: Friday, July 26th, 2024 5-7pm

New Light is a series of monoprints about remembering. The works are odes to crows, light, and every new day. Artwork on view is in culmination of Olivia’s two month long residency with Book Arts, working with letterpress, screen print, and etching press.

The Book Arts Studio Residency invites emerging artists to experiment with various printmaking processes in our community studio for a two month period, culminating in an exhibition of their artworks.  Find out more about the residency program.

This show is made possible by the New York State Council of the Arts with the support of the Office of the Governor and the  New York State Legislature.

Olivia Long is an interdisciplinary artist whose work explores aliveness and grief. Olivia first developed a printmaking practice in 2019 using text and photo transfers. Olivia’s printmaking has since become one extension of a listening practice that translates daily life to visual abstraction. Recurring and brand new sensations become layered color, line, forms, and fragments of text on a page.
