Kate Stapleton Parzych

Kate Stapleton Parzych is a visual artist and arts educator working in digital and darkroom photography, using many of her images for singular artist books. She is an adjunct professor at Daemen College and Niagara County CC, has taught at University at Buffalo where she received her MFA, and conducts workshops at WNYBAC and CEPA. Kate participated in the NYFA MARK 10 Program, has shown her work regionally including CEPA (RELEASE), Hallwalls (Vascular Modes), and was a visiting artist at WNYBAC (Currents). Her work often explores aquatic spaces, (as digital, film or cyanotype images), documenting the surface of water, what might be resting upon it and what may be obscured underneath.

In our Book Arts Gallery Visual Mindfulness series, participants explore the artwork on view by gathering in a few mediations techniques led by artist & educator Kate Stapleton Parzych. Each technique invites us to use our senses whether it be listening, looking, movement, or stillness. There are many ways to enter into meditation other than traditional Buddhist-based practices!
