July 1, 2020 Update

Yesterday marked the first day of Phase 4 for WNY with many arts culturals and museum openings across our community……but we need a little bit more time! We miss you all dearly and are eager to again welcome you into the Center, so we are taking this time to make sure it is the safest experience for our members, supporters and teaching artists.

As we get the space ready for a safe reopening (psst we’ve got some remodeling projects afoot!) please continue checking out all the ways you can be involved from your home…

All your favorite designs, plus new bookmaking kits and activities shipped right to your door. Or hey, surprise a friend and send a little colorful pick me up! We could all use one.

– TAKE ONE (OR ALL!) OF OUR ONLINE WORKSHOPS!
We ship the necessary supplies and materials to you, all you gotta do is tune in to Zoom the day of the class! The cool thing? You don’t have to be a Buffalonian to attend. We’ve got activities for families too! Did ya know members receive a discount!?

– TOUR OUR VIRTUAL GALLERY!
Our 12th Annual Members’ Show featuring creations from over 35 members is currently on view! Plus…we’re still accepting submissions!

Don’t forget to sign up for our mailing list to receive all our re-opening updates and virtual offerings!

Thank you to all who have supported us during this time by making a purchase, becoming a member, viewing our virtual gallery, signing up for an online workshop, or simply making a donation. We are so so grateful for all your love & we can’t wait to see you around the Center very soon! <3 Until then, we press on.

March 14, 2020

To our members & supporters,

On behalf of all of us here at Book Arts, we would like to reassure you that our commitment to the safety and well-being of our community members, teaching artists, volunteers, staff, and visitors remains central to all that we do.

We have been closely monitoring the developments surrounding COVID-19 and as a result we have made the difficult decision to close Book Arts’ gallery, studio, and shop through April 1, 2020 in solidarity with many other local cultural organizations working to help ‘flatten the curve.’

We will continue monitoring the situation and following guidelines from public health officials, as well as posting regular updates to this webpage and our social media accounts. At this time, we will still be hosting our workshops with 10 attendees or less in letterpress, screenprinting, and meditation. If you are registered for these workshops and have any questions or concerns, please give us a call at (716) 348 -1430.

Out of an abundance of caution, we will be postponing our beloved Edible Book Festival presently scheduled for April 4th. We know that our members and friends eagerly look forward to this event each year (as we do, too!) and hope we can count on your enthusiastic support once we have received direction that it is safe for us all to gather and share your confectionary creations. The Edible Book Festival is not only a fun celebration that fosters a love of reading, it also generates sustaining revenue in support of our programs – so please be sure to watch for a forthcoming new date!

In order to further our mission, provide opportunities for our teaching artists, and continue bringing accessible arts education programming to the great people of Western New York, Book Arts needs your ongoing support. Please consider becoming a member, renewing your membership, purchasing a gift certificate for yourself or a friend, shopping our online marketplaces, beginning a custom printing project, or making a donation

Select handmade gifts, hand printed cards, posters and bookbinding supplies are available in our *NEW* online shop, as well as on Etsy, without any interruption in shipping. If you can’t find a specific product online, please email Shopkeep Mel at [email protected] and we’d be happy to check its availability and ship it to you.

Your patronage is essential for us to continue building a strong welcoming and community-based home for the book arts in downtown Buffalo & WNY neighborhoods.

We thank you for your continuous understanding and support. As always, stay creatively curious.
