Cats Cradle – Sue O’Donnell

$0.00

This artist book was created using ambiguous connections that ultimately resulted in a structure that became a memorial for my sister who lost her battle with cancer. A childhood string game, unusual illustrations, obscure references, combined with lyrics from a CD she left behind, all became meaningful links to my sister’s struggle. The book’s structure revealed itself during the process – it was a book that wanted to be a puzzle.
Medium: mixed media (book board, vellum, paper, cotton tape)

Size: 7″ x 8″

About the Artist – Sue O’Donnell

I am a visual artist that combines experimental book arts, graphic design, and conceptual narratives into map-like constructions. I earned my MFA at SUNY Purchase after having worked for many years as a freelance graphic designer in Buffalo, NY. Along with a growing exhibition record, I am the recipient of numerous artist residencies, grants, and awards. I joined the faculty at Bloomsburg University of Pennsylvania in 2007 where I teach digital art and graphic print/book design. I currently live and work in Bloomsburg, PA with my life partner Doug and our “Katrina” kitty Owen.
