Hand Lettering Date/Time: Saturday, June 20th / 12-3pm Expressive and Exciting Lettering Adventure!

This workshop will introduce participants to techniques and strategies to create letters that are filled with expression and life!

Participants should bring some text with personal meaning and connection to the workshop that we will craft into expressive cards. Text should be 5-10 words in length and should have visual expressive potential. These words could be religious text, poetry, quotes, lists, lyrics, dialogue....whatever means something to you that you would like to express. The content can be serious or comical; it's up to you!
Please bring any writing tools (brushes, pens, pencils, etc) that you usually use and with which you are comfortable. The instructor will provide paper and tools to experiment with. Each participant will leave the workshop with their text in a format and style ready to communicate and share with a friend or loved one! Instructor: Lorrie Frear Lorrie Frear teaches Graphic Design and Calligraphy as an Associate Professor in the School of Design at Rochester Institute of Technology. Lorrie is fascinated with just about everything related to letterform design and typography, and she shares this fascination and passion readily with her students. Lorrie has conducted Lettering and Calligraphy Lectures and Workshops at several other universities, including MICA and Carnegie Mellon University, California Polytechnic State University at San Luis Obispo, Syracuse University, the University of Rochester, the Western New York Book Arts Center and the Rochester Brainery. Lorrie’s objective in all of her workshops is to make letters and words come to life for students and to infuse a life-long passion for and appreciation of letterform and typographic selection and application and wordplay that will assist them in their professional and personal lives. A cancellation fee of $25 will be assessed if cancelled less than 1 week ahead of the workshop. Cancellations with less than 48 hours will not receive a refund. Sold out classes will accept a waiting list.
