An Exhibition by Tammy McGovern
on view July 15th, 2023 –
August 19th, 2023
Studio Gallery
During her residency, Tammy embraced variance and experimentation in her approach to creating hand-printed works, including several densely layered screen-printed collages. Bringing together frames and fragments of video stills into often densely layered images, her works explore limitations and artifacts of reproduced media and printing
processes to encourage new and unpredictable relationships to emerge between and around the source material.
Coming from the world of digital media where she often works with found footage from mass media, original video recordings, text fragments and experimental construction, Tammy’s recent experimentations with printing processes follow her interests in the surprising, serendipitous and messy aspects of image reproduction.
The Book Arts Studio Residency invites emerging artists to experiment with various printmaking processes in our community studio for a two month period, culminating in an exhibition of their artworks. Find out more about the residency program.
